About

A Tale to Weave

Grumpy Goat Fine Yarn is on a mission to bring the benefits of knitting to the Port Jervis area, one purl at a time. It’s the brainchild of local sister act Lisa and Susan Weber, with Lisa bringing her wealth of businesses experience, and Susan bringing her knowledge and passion for knitting and yarn. The idea was born after Susan suffered a health set-back, which put her busy life on hold for months. A friend, Laura suggested she take up knitting to pass the time, and soon she was making blankets, baby clothes, sweaters, scarves and more. It has been her therapy ever since. When Lisa noticed there was no yarn shop in Port Jervis, she asked Susan to help set one up. They came up with the name Grumpy Goat after reading the strange-but-true story of William Windsor – a royal cashmere goat serving in the Welsh military, who was briefly demoted after headbutting a drummer during celebrations for Queen Elizabeth II’s 80th birthday in 2006.
